A few days ago I planted my garden for the year. I love planting my garden and taking care of it. It is 100% organic, no chemicals, and pet friendly. I started out with laying down planting fabric to try and beat the weeds this year. Last year I was weeding every day and just couldn't keep up with it.
I cleaned up a bit, and then laid out the plants where I am going to plant them this year. I have a Sweet 100 tomato plant, a Red Cherry tomato plant, Big Bertha green peppers, Golden Sweets yellow peppers, Kentucky Wonder green beans, 2 different kinds of cucumbers, and a carving pumpkin.
I almost forgot to put together my trellis this year, which would be bad because the beans and cucumbers need something to climb. I took some junk lumber to put together a trellis. A few quick cuts, some stapling, and toe screwing into the rails around the garden and tahdah!
After the trellis was up I got everyone in the dirt, including some Sweet Cream marigolds to help keep animals out.
Then it is time for some bunny proofing. I want to be the only one getting veggies out of the garden this year!
And the best bunny repellent of all - my sweet pup Bobby!

I have had this blasted thing for over a year and had made a New Year's resolution to actually post every day. Then I made an unemployment resolution to post everyday. That was a month ago. So much for that. I will pretend that all my time was sapped up with frantic search for employment, but really I am down to working on finding a job every couple of days, instead of daily. Its very draining. I suppose this is a good time for a list post. Things that have happened in the past year? no, that sounds dumb and who the fuck heck wants to read that anyways.
I think really this is a time for reassessment. My life is nowhere near where I expected to be right now. A year ago I was engaged in a long distance relationship, I was in college, ready to start student teaching, but generally pessimistic about things. I don't know why I was so pessimistic, because looking back, it sure seems like I should have been happy. But I really wasn't. Maybe my life was too planned out already. I felt suffocated. At 21 I already "knew" what I was going to do for the rest of my life and who I would spend it with.
I graduated from Illinois State in December with a B.A. in History Education. My student teaching went fairly well. I started looking for jobs. I was thinking that maybe I am not ready to be a teacher yet, that I am too young. I took a job working for a friend of mine as a favor, and I really enjoyed it. I was working run crew for a show with another fantastic person, and then working as a carpenter for the same theatre company. In the 3 months after my graduation I was happier than I had been in a long time because I had thrown my "plan" to hell.
I broke off my engagement in March. It has been 2 months since I did it and really I don't regret it at all. I feel liberated. I feel relaxed. I suppose that means that it was not meant to be, that the relationship would have ended eventually. It is probably good one of us realized that before we had a binding legal contract and children.
Two months later I am single, unemployed, out of school, with no real plan of action other than find some consistent income and I am really really happy.
I plan to go out to the arboretum tomorrow with my friend Chris. I will wear lolita, with flowers, and a hat. It seems appropriate.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!! My mother has actually forbidden me to sew for at least the next week or so. I'm not sure if it was the fact that my little bob started eating the threads I dropped or my slight breakdown after 5 hours of making 1/3 inch pleats. The effect was awesome, but I don't think it was worth the time I spent on it, at least in 1 afternoon. This is a bit of a problem since my bridesmaids dress doesn't fit right, and the wedding is on Friday. I think I will try to get a hiatus on my sewing hiatus untill that dress is finished.
Well, I have been reading the loli communities on here for a while, and I finally got an account so I felt I should write something. Not really sure what to write, but hey. I am oddly getting into shiro lolita, which suprises me since I look AWFUL in white, but I like it in a way. It makes me look Morticia Adams pale, and my freckles look super red, but its kinda cute in a weird way.
